Neo4j raised $36 million Series D round of funding

Interesting… I wonder what this says about the value Cayley provides, assuming it is a viable (superior?) substitute for Neo4j in some use cases.

The new money will be used to help the company to grow its customer base and build partnerships.

The article didn’t mention any feature in particular. The money might be used to grow the company and perhaps develop new proprietary features that most likely won’t be available to the “open-source community edition”. Cayley in my opinion has an immense value because it’s the only truly free graph database that exists, as far as I know. Perhaps it doesn’t yet have a lot of the features that Neo4j has (the article for example mentions advanced monitoring, clustered replications, hot backups), but it can definitely replace Neo4j in some use cases.
